COMMISSION OUTLINES OPTIONS FOR LORDS The House of Lords could be given power to consider European law and to approve a range of government appointments, under new proposals.
The ideas are part of an interim report published by an independent commission on Lords reform set up by the Tories.
The report calls for full public debate following the Government's decision to end hereditary peers' voting rights.
Ministers have yet to outline plans for the final shape of the second chamber.
