 DEFENCE CUTS "DEVASTATING" TO FORCES   
 The Government is planning defence cuts
 as international tension increases,    
 the Tory party conference was warned.  
                                        
 Shadow Defence Secretary John Maples   
 said the armed forces were being asked 
 to do "more with less".                
                                        
 "The world looks to me like a very     
 dangerous place and now is not the time
 to reduce our defence capabilities," he
 told members at Bournemouth.           
                                        
 He promised to fight proposed cuts of  
 20,000 men in the Territorial Army.
