FARM INCOMES DOWN BY HALF, SAYS REPORT
Farmers have seen their income drop by
more than half in the past year,
according to an independent report.
The study, by accountants DeLoitte
Touche, is based on farm accounts.
The National Farmers' Union says its
members are facing the worst crisis in
agriculture since before World War II.
Farm incomes have been hit by the BSE
crisis and by the high value of the
pound, which has made British produce
uncompetitive abroad.
