SHIRT FIRM CLOSE TO FOLDING DESPITE CUT
The Bank of England's decision to cut
interest rates has come too late for
one clothes manufacturer.
Replica football shirt-maker Robert H
Lowe has axed 300 jobs, by shutting
three of its four factories.
The firm, based in Congleton, Cheshire,
blamed the strong pound for forcing its
customers to choose overseas suppliers.
The firm's chairman said the business
might still be viable if rates had been
cut or the pound fallen before now.
