 had a 50% chance of having two or more 
 grandparents alive by the time they    
 were 15. Nowadays that's up to 90%.    
                                        
 Apparently, a new survey shows that    
 grandparents want to be friends, not   
 disciplinarians. Only 39% of those     
 asked told their grandchildren off -   
 while 91% joked with them.             
                                        
 Mind you, US grandparents seem to be an
 "easy touch" - 82% give their
