 PLAYSTATION It's a partially-known     
 fact that the PlayStation began life as
 an add-on for the SNES. It was a real  
 goer at one point: we even attended a  
 launch for Virgin's The 7th Guest,     
 where the game was announced as being  
 in development for the proposed drive. 
                                        
 Unfortunately, at some point somebody  
 got cold feet, or perhaps senior       
 executives just had a fight over some  
 sandwiches or something, and the       
 project was axed. Sony, as two fingers 
 at Nintendo, decided that it'd be able 
 to still make use of the CD technology 
 in its own stand-alone console.
