 it is unlikely at this stage in the    
 series to appeal to newcomers.         
                                        
 Though graphics are of course slicker, 
 and for the first time there is speech 
 (largely in the form of an intensely   
 irritating War of the Worlds-style     
 announcer), the format is familiar.    
                                        
 Walk-look-take-talk, clicking blindly  
 around rooms in that old Sierra way,   
 sighing at the stream of weary puns,   
 and taking in the odd video game spoof 
 (in this case SF2). Do you understand?
