He has been meeting some of the 2,000 Tibetans who live in the country - the biggest community in Europe.
But unlike on previous visits he is not an official guest of the Swiss state.
The Swiss are keen to avoid offending Beijing after China's president criticised the government for allowing pro-Tibetan street protests.
