 DOCTOR ACCUSED OF "BOTCHING OPERATION" 
 A surgeon watched in horror as a locum 
 registrar botched a routine operation, 
 the General Medical Council has heard. 
                                        
 James Fairley said Subir Kumar Dey from
 Sheffield ignored his warning that he  
 had cut too deeply into a girl's throat
 while trying to remove her tonsils.    
                                        
 The GMC is considering three charges   
 against the locum, including one of    
 misconduct at Derby Royal Infirmarary. 
                                        
 Mr Dey denies all the charges except   
 that of perforating a man's gullet. The
