BBC NEWS 24 567 08 Oct 17:24/17 ************ ************ ********** * *** *** ** ******** * ************ ************ ************************** PILOT'S DEATH CAUSED BY LOOSE FUEL PIPE A gyroplane accident which killed a doctor in June appears to have been caused by a loose fuel pipe.
Dr Alisdair Barden, 36, a Stornoway GP, was fatally injured when his aircraft went down 20 minutes after he took from the town's airport.
Investigators found the plastic tube, allowing the pilot to check fuel tank content, disconnected causing a leak.
It is assumed Dr Barden spotted the leak and was distracted. A more suitable material is being recommended.
