 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS, Holland           
 Tour of Spain champion Abraham Olano   
 dominated the men's time trial in      
 Valkenburg to win by over half a minute
                                        
 Olano covered the course in 54 minutes,
 32.13 seconds leaving compatriot       
 Melchior Mauri trailing in his wake 38 
 seconds behind in second place.        
                                        
 Sergei Gontchar of Ukraine was third   
 with American Lance Armstrong fourth.  
                                        
 Chris Boardman, the 1994 champion,     
 started two minutes ahead of Olano but 
 was almost caught by the Spaniard as he
 finished well down the field.
