 EMPLOYERS TO SEEK PAY RISE FOR TEACHERS
 Teachers' employers are to urge the    
 Government to give big pay rises to    
 staff in return for shorter holidays.  
                                        
 The National Employers' Organisation   
 for School Teachers is to propose a 10%
 rise in the £11.5bn pay bill in return 
 for 10 to 15 days less leave a year.   
                                        
 It wants to see classroom teachers' pay
 rise by £5,000 depending on performance
                                        
 Staff would be expected to train for   
 five days a year and give an extra 10  
 days at weekends or outside term.
