 As this is regarded as something of a  
 test case for all islands within the EU
 the Conference of Peripheral Maritime  
 Regions (CPMR), and its Islands'       
 Commission are to ask the High Court to
 be joined as an interested party to the
 proceedings and make a submission to   
 the court in support of the Isle of    
 Wight. This may be opposed by the      
 British Government.                    
 The Island's fight for justice is being
 fought on the statistical front with   
 the European Ombudsman. Twelve months  
 ago the Council complained to the      
 Ombudsman that it is missing out on    
 millions of pounds of regional aid.
