 Reg Barry, Chairman of the Council's   
 Personnel and Sourcing Committee, has  
 written to all the people whose pay is 
 handled by the Council's Payroll       
 Section, explaining what Children's    
 Promise is about and encouraging them  
 to pledge the value of their last      
 hour's earnings. He himself is donating
 a day's attendance allowance of £21.72 
 and is hoping many of the other 47     
 councillors will make donations.       
 Mike Crabb, Payment Services Manager is
 co-ordinating the Council's effort,    
 pointed out that signing a payroll     
 consent form is the cheapest and       
 simplest way for employees to make a   
 contribution by being tax free.     2/3
