MOSCOW KEEPS PRESSURE ON CHECHEN REBELS Russian forces, supported by Chechen soldiers loyal to Moscow, are maintaining their assault on the Chechen capital, Grozny.
Defence Minister Igor Sergeyev said his troops had occupied outlying regions of the city.
But the advance is being slowed down by mines, oil fires, and resistance from entrenched Chechen fighters.
