A spokesman for West Hills Hospital in Los Angeles said the actor had apparently suffered a heart attack.
The Lone Ranger and Tonto rode through the West bringing law and order in every 30-minute episode. Moore appeared in 169 episodes between 1949 and 1957.
"Once I got the Lone Ranger role, I didn't want any other," he once said.
