CEEFAX 2 164 Thu 17 Sep 18:02/22 ************ ************** * *** *** ** ************** ************ ************************** WOMAN REFUSED TREATMENT DUE TO ADDRESS A woman who is suffering from ovarian cancer is being refused treatment on the NHS because of where she lives.
Joan Gunter, from Fareham, Hampshire, has been told she cannot be prescribed the anti-cancer drug Taxol because her health authority says it is too costly.
Joan said: "Why should people in Portsmouth have to pay when people in Southampton, Bournemouth and Poole get it on the national health?"
"It is not just us we are doing this for, it is the principle," she added.
